Now showing in Winkel Galleries

Entrance to Winkel Gallery Winkel Galleries in Clovelly is the 4th gallery to start selling my works and is first one I’ve teamed up with in Sydney.

Panna, owner and manager, has been in the area for 16 years and is clearly a lover of the arts. Panna is also an exceptionally skilled framer and I’m very glad to be working with her.

Next time you’re in the eastern suburbs make you you swing by her gallery and say hi.

Waverly War Memorial Hospital Mural Commission

securedownloadA recent commission was offered to paint a mural for Waverly War Memorial Hospital. The wall space at the hospital is roughly 5.5 metres x 1.5 metres. Here are some pictures from the journey over the last few weeks. You may not be able to tell but the gentleman’s nose took about 4 hours of rehashing to get it the way I wanted. It was worth it. The lovely lady’s name is Muriel after all the people who kept accidently asking me how my muriel was coming along. The gentleman is called Gus.

Thanks to Bare Bones Art Space in Bangalow

The next big thanks for 2013 goes out to Barebones Art Space in Bangalow.  Having met gallery owners/managers Ruth and Karen in 2013, it was easy to see why their beautiful gallery has been around for 20 years. The inspired dedication to their work shines through in their personalities and it is a privilege to now hang from their walls.

If you are ever passing through Bangalow be sure to stop in and say hi at at Barebones Artspace, 44 Bangalow Street, Bangalow, NSW 2479

Thanks to Underart Gallery in Cairns

Craig Martin - Underart GalleryOver the coming weeks I’d like to say an individual thank you to everyone who helped make the last 12 months great.

Firstly Iefje at Underart Gallery in Cairns – I’ve lost count of how many paintings you have sold for me this past year and thank you dearly for all your hard work. Also thanks for your dedication in responding to my texts no matter where you are in the world… even when in a random toilet while travelling through Arizona!

I look forward to further discussion about adding some prints of more popular pieces to the Underart collection this year too.

Here’s to another big year.

Thanks, Iefje.

Here are some paintings that you may not have seen that have sold through Iefie’s beautiful Gallery

Goodbye 2012 - Hello 2013!

2012 was by far the best year yet for painting and I can’t thank all friends and clients enough for their support. With the commissions and gallery sales there were 52 originals sold last year and add to that the limited edition prints there were over 75 sales, so from the bottom and top of my heart, thank you.

Sales in Cairns are going great guns with a big thanks to Iefje at UnderArt Gallery. The first batch have sold and batch two is now on the walls. I’ve attached the latest bunch and FYI “Follow That Plane” has already sold.

More good news with Retrospect Galleries in Byron Bay offering me another opportunity to display for Artist of the Month this year (date unconfirmed). With a sell out exhibition last year seeing 16 originals bought I’m thinking of putting together at least 20 this time and hoping to exhibit in October. More details to come.

And last but not least, if you like collecting those free postcards from the Avant Card collection you see around the place then keep an eye out for REM White Collar Worker. I submitted the piece about 6 months ago and thought I’d keep it hush until it was definite but Avant Card have just told me that they have printed 29,750 copies and are sending them to cafes, function centres and play houses all around Australia as we speak. And to top it off they even sent me 500 copies of my own which have now become my official business card. You can check my card out at the Avant Card website.

So again thank you all for such a wonderful year and I hope you will continue to follow me on my journey in 2013.

Craig Martin and Underart Gallery in Cairns

Random Explosive Magic - White Collar WorkerGreat news, I’ve been given the thumbs up to hang some pieces in Underart Gallery – Cairns!

Brilliant artist and store owner Iefie Boissevain sells her stunning paintings and the works of many other other talented creators through her gallery right in the middle of Cairns. Here is a sample of one of the pieces I’ll be sending North to Iefie in the next month. Its called, “R. E. M. Random Explosive Magic – White Collar Worker” and is the first of a series of paintings unfolding in my head to be released throughout the year.

Craig Martin in the Northern Star

Incite Our Imagination - Northern Star ArticleBig thanks to the team at the Northern Star (newspaper) for help with this article. The exhibition is going great for June. Six images have sold so far and the prints are nearly ready for hanging too. There hasn’t been much painting work for the last couple of weeks but a plitherah… plethera… (quick google) plethora of paintings are stacking up in the brain and need to get out so there’ll be some more to share soon.

Just want to say thanks for all the support and “likes” from friends, families and the lovely randoms that find their way here. It means a lot.

Craig Martin on WeWish

I was scouring the net for illustrations and art and happened across a site I wasn’t aware of and found my pictures being displayed. It was a pleasant shock and lovely to see my works being displayed beside the likes of Sydney Nolan, Ken Done and Del Katheryn Barton to name a few. Check out the We Wish website, there are loads of fantastic imagery.
